The main issue is that a bunch of the petrostates use religious patronage to prop up their ruling families.
So I'm a Green Party member in the UK and there are quite a lot of Green Muslims, and now more due to Labour's islamophobia and backing of genocide. The Muslim Greens group on social media share a lot of things about environmental Muslim practices and environmentally focused parts of the Qur'an. I'm atheist but find it incredibly interesting.
It's pretty common for religions to say something about taking care of the environment — it's generally a prerequisite for human survival.
