All the people who can affect change are busy pointing the finger at average joes and paying the governments who should be holding them accountable to turn a blind eye.
Hell, conservatives in half the world are actively framing climate change as a fake liberal problem and gutting the institutions that keep it from getting worse much faster.
If coordinated action isn't taken on a multi-national level, we're just going to keep rolling down this hill until enough people die that the earth can recover. And the sad thing is, we will continue to roll down this hill because the people who do die are not going to be the ones who are most responsible for this mess.
This is one reason why I'm pissed off with Greenpeace and greens parties with their anti nuclear paranoia and habit of dividing people within their own community.
How many tons of CO2 have we blasted in the air because we're not moving towards carbon neutral energy production?
Anyone who has an off grid setup know how effin hard it is to be 100% reliant in solar and wind it's only cost effective while you have backup power to cover long periods of bad weather. Not even combining all batteries in the world would power a country like Japan through a heavy storm that brings overcast weather for days.
Wind farm are also not without their danger as they can become unsightly, cause noise pollution and are a danger to wildlife. Tidal plants are not happening because again, wildlife. Hydroelectric plants also get a boycott, because habitat loss. So nothing is ever good enough. We need nuclear.
This doesn't touch the topic of the amount of tankies amongst greens. While they managed to shake th off in Germany that's not th case on other parts of the world.
Particularly in Australia where China is a real threat to us and where we rely on good relationships with our partners.
The reason why I'm bringing that division up is that that this is keeping them from being elected, which would make a bigger difference in climate related actions.
