So a few years ago I got into trying to cut odd shapes. These shapes almost never make it into jewelry, but produce some interesting results. This one worked well for the small peridot I used it on. I got lucky in that the stone was already close to the final size, and ended up with a yield of 63% of the original.
My camera work has gotten a lot better since then. š
I think something larger would be better. This is only about 4mm in length. Iāve got some larger flattish pieces of topaz that I was wondering what to do with. Iāll cut one in this shape and see what it looks like.
It actually isnāt that hard, fewer facets made the cutting easy. As I recall, the trickiest part for me was transferring to another dop to cut the other side while making sure I aligned the stone correctly.
