  • Those screenshots look greaaaat. Obviously the game isn't designed for Lumen (some places look too dark) but I think I'll turn it on regardless when the update hits.

    • I find the darkness to be an absolutely AMAZING element. You can create so much atmosphere now! Being able to make things pitch black allows you to make things pop and actually creates a real reason to use lighting and I've found it to be much more rewarding to have to place lights and actually being able to turn visiting factories into an experience. It makes designing a factory feel so much more realistic since you have to consider visibility now as well. It'd be nice if they would add like a gamma slider or something for those that don't want it so dark, though.

With how much attention given to U8 being mostly people raving about how awesome Lumen makes factories look, CSS'd be remiss to not allocate more dev effort into allowing us to create more comprehensive lighting designs. Honestly, this sort of lighting design is something I didn't even realize I wanted, now that I got a taste of it, it feels like it's a necessity. IMO an adjustable beam angle light would be the most bang for the dev/UX buck since it would give people who want it brighter to throw more light on a wider area and also give people more design options.

      • It would definitely be cool until it starts obscuring my vision while trying to build/align something. Adding some kind of small peaceable lamps would be cool though!
