It is completely a promise. Seriously pretty upset they pulled the junk they're pulling.

Between self emptying ink and updates that refuse third party ink, it's frustrating. I see other people talking about how thier printers got bricked, its ridiculous.

This can't be a sustainable business model. Eventually they'll have extorted all current owners dry, and nobody will be buying new printers from them. It really makes me wonder what they were thinking.
