Florida coach Billy Napier opened fall practice talking to his team about expectations — internal ones, anyway.
We now interrupt our regularly scheduled media-industry meta analysis to bring you a story about football players trying to become better at football (which, btw, they need to do rather badly).
Well, guess you’ll just have to post and comment more to drown out my rambling rants, fueled by a heady cocktail of bath salts and Gatorade (call it the face eater).
If it helps, and I concede it may not, I married a TCU alum and root for them just as much.
As a Gator alum, I think the general feel is that 6 would have us on track but not quite wildly successful. It would be beating the O/U of 5.5, but not enough to feel like we'd overcome anything unusual. 7 would be nice. If Billy gets to 8 or 9 with this bunch, he deserves an extension. 3-9 is not an insanely bad take if things go poorly though.
We need to win McNeese and Charlotte of course, but also Vandy, Arky, and Mizzou. Then, there are the "reasonable chance games" of Utah, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Get one of those, and there's your 6. FSU is a rivalry-week wildcard where playing spoiler and pride are a bigger factors, so who knows, but they're farther along in their rebuild. Tennessee, Georgia, and LSU do not look good.
After growing up through our decline I'm always wary of the gators. Florida voodoo is real. So if it makes you feel any better I still have the uf game as a toss up.
