It's just a softened version of "son of a bitch" but I agree with others, never heard of it as an insult
32 1 ReplyI've heard an old man use it this way a long time ago in the west. You would only hear it from someone who's very old or thinks they're a polite cowboy.
4 0 ReplySoutherners use it in a very endearing way that is hard to describe. Only ever in a funny and harmless way, to my knowledge
