Explain shafts - is mojo involved?
Since starting golfing, I've become increasingly nerdy about hardware. This is typical for me.
I've recently learned how to reshaft carbon fiber and steel shafts, which has allowed me and son to try out the limited shafts we have here at home.
I've read that shafts can be an amazing magic that transforms your game, but also that that's a crock, and super expensive shafts don't have any magic in them.
What's your experience or expertise in this area?

It's quiet in here
Son joined the high school team last year, so I started with him at the same time. I've been learning a lot. His coach is quite chill, and we play sometimes during the matches.
I wish this community were a bit noisier, 'cause that other place has more activity.
Hi everyone!

Garmin Watches
I’ve been eyeing the Garmin golf watches as an idea for a family member for a gift. They generally don’t wear a watch but they do play a ton of golf.
Ive been looking at the Approach S12 and was wondering if anyone has experience with it. The courses they play are all included so I know that will work.
A couple of main questions.
How useful are these really? They generally play the same 10ish courses but do branch out when traveling which is a couple times a year.
Longevity. We live in Minnesota so really can only golf at most 6 months of the year. Is this going to last 5 or 6 seasons or do these need to be upgraded every 3-4 years because they become unusable?
Thanks all!

TGL: Tiger Golf League(?)

I guess there’s a stadium being built for this that will seat up to 2000 fans and I just found out that it’s only about 10 miles from my house. I’ll have to get tickets and see what it’s all about when it starts up next January.

Getting beginner clubs
Hello. I do the golf and am about a 3/10 at it. I sold my old set when I moved but am looking to get a new set again but immediately hit a conundrum...
Do I get a cheap new set? Do I get a second-hand set? Do I take time to build a secondhand set?
The other problem is; I have no clue when it comes to what makes a good club. My previous driver was brutal, but highly rewarding when hit just right. Whereas I'd use friend's drivers and found them much more forgiving. I have no idea why that was except I noted my club head was smaller, maybe that?
I also don't really know what clubs I should have in the bag. I figure I'd go with what I've used most, or maybe just go Driver, 3, 5, 7, 9... and then we go with the speciality clubs. Never had a hybrid, never had a wedge apart from PW and SW. I used a friend's loft wedge no idea what it was, but I loved it.
Does anyone have good advice on all these queries? Or have a good source that isn't a crappy algorithm article?

Where are some good golf locations in Eastern Asia?
By Eastern Asia I mean East, SouthEast, and South Asia.
I've read that the hong kong golf club course in fanling (hong kong) is nice to play at but not overly challenging.

Got some free clubs and have a lesson Monday. Any tips for a beginner?
I'm sure I'll want to upgrade some of my clubs as they aren't in the best shape, and I don't have a pitching wedge, but excited to see how things go. I bought a new bag (Calloway Fairway 14), and some soft balls already.
Any advice to make me not look completely clueless or gear tips would be appreciated!

16th hole, Poipu Bay Kauai
I just got back from a trip to Kauai where I was fortunate enough to play 3 rounds.
I stayed in Koloa, so I played Kiahuna for the first time since it was so close. At $135 it was a so-so value, but the PoP was great and the greens were wild.
I played Princeville Makai the next day, which I'd played once on a previous trip. It's the most expensive course of the three I played on this trip, and kind of tough to get to unless you're already in the Hanalei area. Even so, this is my favorite course on the island and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Poipu Bay was the last course I played on this trip, the 16th hole is pictured. You tee off on top of the bluff (look for the palm trees furthest away), and the hole is a LONG par 4 at >500 yards, but plays downwind so it's still reachable in two for reasonably long hitters. Driving it long and straight is imperative at this course, the wind plays a major factor.

Does anyone ever switch stalls in the driving range midsession if all of a sudden you get in a funk?
New to golf and practicing at the range. I hit my first 15 balls exactly how I wanted to and then on the 16th I clipped the ball and hit the barrier separating the stalls.
I got nervous and it was all down hill from there.
I thought about changing stalls because I was face to face (lefty) to people. But there was a little girl practicing on the left edges and that even made me more nervous. Lol
Anyways, I’ll be back at it tomorrow.

swingtweaks - any good?
app.swingtweaks.com Swingtweaksgolf, golf lessons, golf app, golf instruction, golf help, online golf lessons, golf instructors.
Has anyone used these guys? I’ve seen them promoted on some YouTube channels. I’m a big fan of lessons but they are obviously expensive and the teaching pros at my club kinda are geared towards getting you to single digit HCP whereas I’m around a 17.
Thoughts?

Thoughts on golfing solo as a beginner?
I've recently gotten back into golf after taking about a decade off. I've taken some lessons, but still feel like I need some time out on the course alone to do some fine tuning and gain some confidence being out there. I've never gone out alone before, but definitely think it would be helpful before meeting up with friends and family for a round. Does anyone on here golf alone? I've been hesitant to book a tee time, because I really don't want to be paired up with a group and negatively impact their game. Any tips or words of encouragement would be appreciated! Although I did golf in the past, I would definitely consider myself a beginner, especially after my lessons revealed a lifetime of bad habits I'm working against.
