SpaceXplorer_8042 Ashu @lemmy.zip

Hi there, I'm SpaceXplorer, or if you find that difficult to pronounce, just call me Ashu.

I'm 18 years old, with some deep interest in technology, computing, and photography. I do like to draw and play the guitar, but you'll rarely see me do it.

I'm still figuring out what I want to do.

  • It still does it. The only thing is that the awareness of this feature was spread in a way to make it sound like it was just stealing your internet for nothing (which looking at it one way, it was) so most people just turned it off.

  • How's Clash of Clans nowadays?

I have been away from Clash for about two years now. Took a look back at it an - on the surface at least - it looks like a dumpster fire. TH16?? 17 on the horizon?? Controversies? Did they go down the EA path after all?

Anybody still playing this game, how is the economy doing? I heard they're making it more pay-to-win.

Non "Gaming" Headphones, but for gaming

Hi, I want to buy a headphone for gaming, but I've read a fair few times that it's better to have normal headphones and a dedicated mic than to have gaming headsets. I mean, it certainly has been true for nearly everything except mice so far (I really appreciate the extra buttons), but then again, it hasn't been true for mice. Currently I only have an Apple wired earphone, and it's pretty good, but I would also like to have headphones.

For some context, my budget is about $150, and I necessarily want either wired headphones, or wireless ones that can also operate via an AUX cable. I don't really mind mic quality, so long as does have any serviceable mics that can get my voice across. I can go with both stereo or surround. I do play fps games - but I've played for about 5 years with a stereo gaming headset with no problems in directional audio.

One thing I've noticed is that out of the four gaming headsets me and my family have bought, all of them have disintegrated really quickly - like 2 years from purchase. That's one of the reasons I believe gaming headsets fall into the overpriced category compared to normal headphones, for now. Plus alongside being able to game on a normal headphone, I would have something for movies and music too - all in one device.

So, is it better for me to purchase gaming headphones, or use normal ones? What would be some of your recommendations?

  • Oh my god the clouds. I forget what they were called, but they're one of my favourite types.

  • It's not enough that God is all powerful, he must also enjoy watching you suffer.
  • Fucking hell I never though of that 5 years ago

  • How to deal with addict parents?
  • When I left home at 19, things opened up for me a lot more than I expected. But I still regret the 8 years that I was just "hanging in there" because the alternative was just so much better. I see where you are coming from, but unless the parents are only somewhat bad parents that otherwise take care of you, this is bad advice.

  • What's your favorite profound quote?
  • Change your perspective... and the reality changes!

That's what a daycare npc told me in Pokemon Black. Although I haven't really found much use for the quote, it has stuck with me for long.

  • Has this ever happened to you?
  • I have only used DISM (I think) for chkdsk. What else can you really do with it? I don't even know what to search tbh, so pardon me if it's just a quick search away

  • Why do companies love chrome so much?
  • RIP {I can't type out that username}, you shall be remembered while you charge your phone

  • Why do companies love chrome so much?
  • That's why I started setting Firefox as the default browser on my family's phones. They were too annoyed by ads and almost got scammed once. With Firefox and uBlock Origin it's like magic for them. Plus they don't visit any non-mainstream websites so they'll never encounter such a screen.

A small step to a better web-browsing experience for all of us.

  • The printer at work requires a FW upgrade in order to continue communicating telemetry to the mothership
  • I just stopped using my printer. I do have to print often, but it's not worth it. I'd rather pay the nearest general store to print my stuff. Dirt cheap rates and I don't have to maintain anything. Just pay and print

  • Piracy even when I can get it legally
  • Hey, I'm thinking of switching my Jio SIM to VI. How's the coverage and speeds for you? Is it cheaper and/or offers some actually useful side-perks?

  • How to make the accent on selected tab blue?

So I applied an updated version of Firefox-UI-fix for Firefox 120, and now my accent on selected tabs is gone.

For context, this is what it looks like now -

    !

The image below is in private window mode, because for some reason it works over there. Focus on the line above the selected tab, with a blue accent line. This is how I want it to be -

Google app gets a slightly more compact homepage on Android
  • I honestly like the redesign. Now, if only they actually let that search pill stay when search results come up; like iOS...

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • What happened this time around? I don't keep up with the news.

  • Mozilla Blog: Is your extension ready for Firefox for Android? Be part of the launch of a new open mobile ecosystem
  • I think this is the one that installs extra... "Firefoxes" for each to run as their own browser and open the site you set as their homepage.

Honestly I wish it could be better, but this is some pretty amazing thing to code out, so I appreciate it.

  • How do I change the look of the New Tab shortcuts on Waterfox?

So, you know how on mainstream Firefox, the shortcut icons are a bit padded to give them a uniform look?

    !

Yeah, I wanna do that, but with Waterfox, a fork of Firefox. I know, this is not exactly the sub for that browser, but this is the closest I could find here on lemmy.

Currently on Waterfox, the padding on shortcut icons seems erratic.
