UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect Luigi Mangione suggests evidence ‘planted’ after arrest
  • but they snared a doplerganger and figured they could frame him up fast based on his social media.

doppelganger* and please drop the unwarranted conspiracies jfc. I'm sure there is more to the story but you're quite literally making shit up.

  • It is potentially a crime to call for people to kill other people. Yes you are probably fine. But the admin has to be the one to deal with it, and you're far from the only jabroni acting way. On my server I remove that shit immediately and warn the person. Second time they're banned.

What do you think entire previous chain of comments was about? You didn't just say you approved. You didn't just say you were happy. You said you want other people to go out and kill billionaires like he did. We literally just went over this. You said that true.

Think of the people who have to clean up your shit. Most of the admins who make all this possible are doing us a great service.

  • I think what a lot of people on Lemmy and the broader Fediverse don’t seem to appreciate is that instance Admins can be held liable for the contents of their instances. The obvious example is CP, but it extends well beyond that, so when we go on these boards and start saying things that will get the attention of government authorities, we are actually putting instance Admins in a very difficult and unenviable position because we want to chest pound and sound tough. If what you were doing could somehow drive change or whatever I would be more supportive of it potentially. But ultimately this is just tough guy shit on the Internet, and I don’t think it’s fair for the admins to have to face serious repercussions over it (almost all of which are spending their money to make this happen).

The only instances that are truly “free speech” platforms are either actually not truly free speech platforms where all is allowed OR they are just counting down the days until they have to stop or are otherwise shutdown.

  • Cloudflare Blocks Pirate Site URLs "For Legal Reasons"
  • Cloudflare is not an ISP and doesn’t haven’t the same relationship to consumers as an ISP. This is quite the stretch.

There are major issues with their market capture and role but it’s a very different problem than net neutrality/ISP’s acting as monopolies.

  • This is probably correct. Copayback.
  • Comments like yours are what lead people to behave that way man. I understand I’m coming off very harsh but I honestly think people need to take these things more seriously

I read a great comment the other day: “think about who your memes give ammo to.“ The same goes for conspiracy theories. You need to think about the audience that could be impacted by it, you are contributing to the cloud of misinformation.

  • Jfc I am so tired of conspiracies asserted so confidently anytime anything interesting happens. Can y’all just wait for like two goddamn seconds for information to come out instead of letting XXpatriotXx or whoever on YouTube and tiktok whip y’all up into a frenzy? Or are we all just going to start acting like tinfoil hat rightwingers desperately trying to make their lives sound more interesting?
