TV Seasons Have Gotten Shorter. That Doesn't Mean They're Better
  • You lose so much in world building and character building with these seasons that are barely longer than a movie. I've had someone tell me that any season longer than 8 episodes is just padded with filler episodes and I felt so sorry for them. I don't think they've ever seen a high quality long form show and it's really sad.

With modern miniseries length seasons, you never get those slice of life episodes or interesting side stories or anything at all that doesn't serve to advance whatever the major story arc of the season is.

  • You know what, you're right. This shit has been going on so often and for so long, you kinda lose sense of time. Thinking back, I was in high school when Columbine occurred and school shootings have been steadily on the rise since then. Tons of current voters grew up in the age of school shootings.

  • I find it interesting when people who are confronted with disagreement about a plot point they like resort to making implications about the other person's character instead of discussing anything in the post they're responding to.

  • The Burn being caused by a magic baby having a tantrum kinda ruined the whole setting for me. There's a lot of potential with moving to the 32nd century, but if that's the quality of storytelling we're gonna get, it doesn't seem worth it. I'd much rather see a 24th century setting that follows up on the galaxy post Dominion War and the return of Voyager. There's a lot of untold story there that would be great to see... Although I'd hope it's not more magic baby style stuff.
