Should I de-transition so liberals don't see me and say maybe the republicans are on to something
  • Unironically I thought "why are random women who look like they teach second grade posting on c/amiugly?" I only realized this was a trans sub after I finished reading the title. I just saw this on the all feed lol. I wouldn't say you look younger than 35 tbh but I also definitely think you look like a woman.

  • Bakers are useful members of society. It makes sense that they exist. A society without bakers would not be more efficient.
  • Robots do bake. Actually, a lot of the food you eat is partly made by machines. It's how we aren't all starving right now, and why famines are so much less common. As good as handmade bread is, it couldn't feed 8 billion people. We have bread loaves in the supermarket made by machines, and we are better off for it.

  • What to buy?
  • They do sell all of the components online though and at good prices. It's not hard to get replacement parts. I've even seen Voron and ratrig people making mods to use bambulabs spare parts in their custom machines because they are way more affordable than comperable high performance parts from other sources.

  • Smartphones without a selfie camera?
  • I use my front facing camera to see under things all the time. It's very useful, even though I don't take selfies. I'm an engineer though so I probably spend more time looking under things than most.

  • What to buy?
  • in that price range you can get a bambulabs X1 carbon, which is an extremely high performance and high reliability machine. If you want to save a bit, the P1P is also really good.

I am a hardcore custom printer guy who loves building everything themselves, but even I have to admire this machine.

Don't listen to people recommending ender 3s or anything creality, but prusas are also a good option, if a bit outdated.

  • Screwdriver rule
  • I have long history of being intrigued by this phrase. I wonder which Reich it refers to?

  • Hilbert Curve top fill is underrated
  • I'm running a rapido UHF on an EVA. It's partially to hold me over until I can sort out how to properly clean my cht volcano bimetal to fully fix my curling problem, because I have to chose between the flow reduction of my backup nozzle or the curling on the fancy one.

  • Hilbert Curve top fill is underrated
  • I really do need to sort this out because I keep running into it on different machines (even ones I don't maintain myself, like in labs), but I can't find anything about it on the internet. last time I made a post about it nobody knew what was causing it, but a nozzle swap has normally fixed it.

  • Hilbert Curve top fill is underrated
  • The top layer curl is something I've experienced on 3 different printers so far, to varying degrees. I think it's caused by a very light partial clog. I switch out the nozzle to fix it normally, but the pattern has grown on my for general use. I just think it looks kinda neat.

  • Is this new? Latest roll of filament came on a cardboard spool
  • this is cool, but kinda overkill. I just printed a super simple insert that fits snugly into the spole hole and the problem went away completely.

  • Is this new? Latest roll of filament came on a cardboard spool
  • I go through 3-4 spools a month so carboard has been huge for me.

  • Hilbert Curve top fill is underrated

I started using it because of a curling issue I had with top layers, but it's kinda grown on me. It's definitely a bit slow, but it really hides the lines better than anything else. What do you all think?

    My new giant printer!
  • what's the best way to post videos on lemmy? Know a good hosting site? Also, I'm working through filament pathing issues right now so it's not going as fast as it could be.

  • Scientists successfully unfroze rat organs and transplanted them — a ‘historic’ step that could someday transform transplant medicine
  • Considering you can freeze a whole mouse and have them survive after unfrozen, but not a human, I wonder how well this will carry over.

  • Cube rule
  • this is the least offensive cube rule example you could have posted tbh.

  • Good radius gauges are the most important tool to print if you want to design into and around existing objects
  • I would really hope your printer can produce radii to 1mm tolerance. Especially for the higher end of sizes.

  • What are y'all's favorite exotic filaments?
  • Filamentum TPU 98A is probably the toughest filament you can buy. If you are ok with a little bit of flex, it's basically impossible to break any parts made with this stuff.

  • ROCK AND STONE

I don't have a small hand, this is just wide angle and a very big pickaxe.

    My new giant printer!
  • Oh so that's what AWD is? Sounds cool. For me though, my issue is probably down to belt tension.

  • My new giant printer!
  • Mine is basically the ratrig recommended defaults except for the CHT, a beacon scanner, and a carbon fiber rail. I got to a 16 minute benchy basically immediately, but anything else I print that fast causes either skipped steps or belt slips and I'm not sure why.

  • What's the creepiest thing you've ever experienced?
  • Any owls around? Some make seriously weird screeches.

  • My new giant printer!

Just finished building this beast. It's a ratrig Vcore 3.1 with a 500x500x500mm build volume and blazing speed.
