how to make the 5th sage more useful?

Got the 5th sage and felt so underwhelming when facing strong enemies. Her damage output is so weak.

Felt like I just to cross gloom and it's headlight when exploring the depth.

You can fuse flamethrowers and the like to her arms, but that's about it I think.
- But that's the risk of getting yourself roasted if you unmount her. So risky
  
  I switched to giving her a shock and a beam emitter from flame emitters, and the number of times she damaged me has gone down significantly
