Would you like to explain what this is about for those of us who might be totally out of the loop? No problem if you don't.
暑い (あつい) means hot when talkingaboutt weather specifically. The kanji above added a lot more lines to the kanji, implying that it is very hot, which is also represented in the reading あっっっっっっっつい (or hot vs hooooooooot)
