Actually that's one of the things I think will make engagement on Lemmy more meaningful. There's no point to the updoots other than to promote good content and downvote crap. Noone will be chasing Karma. Reposts will be honest/lazy mistakes instead of trying to cash-in on highly dooted stuff.
That's actually a good benefit of Lemmy I hadn't considered. Without incentived karma farming, the content will be more organic.I genuinely don't care about reddit karma personally, but I do look forward to seeing higher quality posts rather than multiple duplicate posts rushing to accumulate fake internet points, and the same regurgitated jokes in the comments.
As with Reddit and other sites using Markdown notation to type a backslash you have to do a double backslash. Backslash is a special escape character which is why it won't show up normally.
