Yes! It wasn't an official request or anything, but some French politicians did say we should return it.
Some left-wing French legislator did. Had a post about on [email protected] or somewhere like that, saw it recently.

The inscription was added by Americans, wasn't actually from the French. Though, yeah, Trump is probably pretty high on the list of Presidents that clash with it.
