Sad reality: as long as the stock market moves, they can make lots of money. Up or down? Doesn't matter. Just gotta know Dear Leader's next genius move a little bit ahead of the rest of the market
Although, I'm not sure how he's going to swing it in the opposite direction when no one trusts he isn't going to flip-flop just days later.
That unpredictability is what's causing the stocks to tumble. People make money as stock prices fall by short selling. Basically borrowing stocks and selling them. If the price falls, the investor makes a profit.
