While the US Congress gave Netanyahu a standing ovation, an Israeli demonstrator in Tel Aviv/Tal-Habbib denounced US complicity in the genocide in Gaza.
Apparently according to recent polls, over 70% of the US population wants a cease-fire in gaza. Considering less than a handful of congress-members agreed with them, that makes 99% of the US congress opposing the will of the people. Very democratic country, yes.
According to onerecent poll, the number is 67%, and they didn't poll for a range of definitions of ceasefire to try to suss out exactly what that means. Like, many people would only accept a ceasefire that would more or less erase Hamas, but there is no sign of that happening. Instead, everything (including somewhat agree) was just lumped together to produce 67%.
I've seen elsewhere (I'll try to find the source but I've got a busy day ahead of me so it may be in a day or two) that like the Oscars, Congress was filling empty seats with people to give the illusion that it was widely supported.
