The one thing I found annoying about OSM isn't even wrong, it's just different -- I've got one on my nextcloud, and everything is named locally. So if you're somewhere in China, everything is in Chinese. If you're in the middle east, everything is in Arabic. So if you don't read those languages you can't use the maps.
There's a decent app on android called OSMAND~ which lets you download the OSM maps for your region and navigate offline. I find it really neat on plane trips because you can see exactly where your plane is by the second.
