Hi! I'm looking at buying my first gaming laptop, but I have a preference that most people don't seem to care about: I want the trackpad to be really good.
I know that most people game with a mouse, which is understandable, but I don't always want to use one. I'm used to the amazing trackpads on Macbooks, and I'm wondering what the best trackpads in the PC laptop world are.
I've tried out an Asus ROG Zephyrus at my local Best Buy, and so far, that one seems to be the best. Are there any other brands that I should look out for?
I think the Zephyrus laptops are the only gaming laptops that have a glass surface trackpad, which adds to the accuracy and premium-ness a lot. I haven't really seen anyone complain about the trackpad on the Zephyrus lineup. So they are probably your best choice.
Just be mindful that the Zephyrus G series (the most popular) laptops this year come with the new RTX 4000 Mobile GPUs. They are more performant and much more efficient than older GPUs. If you get a good deal on them, you should surely get them. Or, you can compare prices with last generation G14s and see if the performance improvement is worth the price to you. There might be a better deal with last gen parts now too.
With the RTX 4000, you don't even need a max TGP laptop to achieve the most performance in games, the 100W RTX 4060 in the new G14 gets just as much FPS in games as RTX 4060 laptops with higher TGPs. Check out this video from JarrodTech where he compares some of the RTX 4000 Mobile GPUs in different power configurations.
Thank you for the info. I was wondering what the benefit of the 4060 was over the 3060, other than DLSS3, since I read that their performance is similar when that isn't a factor. The power difference is huge though, that's good to know.
