Baldur’s Gate 3 is Causing Some Developers to Panic
While Baldur's Gate 3 is being widely celebrated by fans and developers alike, some are panicking that this could set new expectations from fans. Good.
The $20 horse armor, the $100 collectors edition, and the $15 battle pass seems like a joke but looking back it's hard to remember the last game without 3 DLCs, a battle pass, micro transactions, or all 3.
I've been frustrated at this style of game design since it started and I'm glad there's a company blazing a path to what could be a new standard.
There's a reason the video mentions recent bangers like Elden Ring, Vampire Survivors, etc. I'm still playing those games after beating them. Because they don't abuse my time or constantly remind me they want more money.
I recall an Oblivion expansion had a horse armor dlc. I think it came with a little extra content but the horse armor was the star.of the show. Maybe it's just a bit of hyperbole.
