Was over at reddit.com/r/sandiego. It was business as usual. Despite my outrage at the situation with Reddit higher ups and the mods, I realize that the average schlub barely knows, and likely doesn't give a rat's eyelash. I want the Fediverse to succeed, but I know it's going to be a long haul...
Community just needs content and reasonable moderation. Keep it going for a few years and be ready for when they slay the golden goose and people will come running.
