Reddit is sounding more right-wing as time goes on
So many people were bootlicking Andy Yen in the Reddit thread. Where the commenters were attacking the poster for suggesting that he should resign from the ceo position for praising Donald Trump and then doubling down on the original statement using the official proton account.
Has it, or were there always pockets of all kinds of schools of thought? It seemed that way to me at least until Spez decided money was more important than anything else and a good chunk of the left-leaners decided they'd be better off elsewhere.
That's not a pejorative, by the way. I'm a left-leaner. And I, well, left.
I'd say i'm very left wing, too. But reddit always felt off to me, like i wasn't meant to be there. I see why now, due to them saying this stuff about us when they can.
but the majority are just conservatives/faux-liberals who'd sell you out and your race for their own convenience, anyway.
I'm not much of a reddit defender as i pretty much left this place same time as everybody else. However there's always been a very clear trend in this kind of subreddits. Places like "noahgettheboat" or "iamapieceofshit" or "thatsinsane" systematically attract the worst kind of misanthropic low-lifes. People will see the most abject violence and laugh "haha he fucked around and found out" and of course this makes the most fascistic types feel at home.
I don't think they are representative of the overall slant of the community. Most places are progressive by default.
Reddit is corporate, of course the FP will be sanitized. But the real disgusting part are the obscure or small subreddits.
I've seen comments praise Europa as a "documentary" when it is just neo nazi propaganda. Lemmy has shortcomings but at least I can call this out without being downvoted to obscurity (TBF my main comment is pretty controversial but I think that's just because how I worded it)
That's why it's important to heavily curate your corporate social media feed. If you see a community where this kind of comments are heavily upvoted just hide it and move on, there's not that many and most of the niche interests are still relatively clean places.
Once upon a time I got called a terrorist WHILE I was performing on a community theater stage. The bright spot was how quickly my fellow actors and the rest of the patrons shut that down
Of course. Lemmy isn't perfect, but it's much better than others. There is some racism on here, but it's not like reddit where as i said; they'll basically demand the deportation of an entire race due to a terrorist attack. As if i'm responsible for 9/11 or some shit.
So? There's hundreds of thousands comments daily that are liberal comments. Where even are these comments you found posted? You may have had a bad experience, but most of reddit is very liberal.
It IS liberal, and those same people will turn against us the moment they realise we aren't dogs that listen to every order. They do this every election season and throw minorities under the bus. They're faux liberals.
Where even are these comments you found posted?
Literally after the #2 comment under the post, what are you talking about.
Hell, maybe even just get off the internet for awhile. You're downvoting comments you don't agree with and arguing over stupid shit. Move on.
Dude, you started this argument, not me. And what you think the downvote button is for?
Saying I'm unwell after 3 replies is unhinged. I've seen your other replies in this thread; clearly you are just a prick who likes to argue with people.
