I mean I know its likely gonna change once the big waves wash over but still.
Alt: Drake meme template but with a anime girl. Top row with the girl gesturing approvingly says: if reddit is gonna kill 3rd party clients then I'm just gonna switch to Lemmy. Bottom row, with the girl showing distress, says: there arent as many funny trans people on Lemmy rn
Kbin seems less problematic though, and while it’s still rough around the edges seems, to me, to have better UX too. And it can still interact with communities and people on Lemmy instances so you’re not isolated away from those corners.
The main devs are MLs, but I don't think that necessarily makes them tankies. The Lemmygrad instance is the worst offender if that bothers you. This instance is not sectarian, though it does have a leftist culture in general.
There is an anarchist community already on this instance as well, and it's likely this instance trends toward progressive politics as users come in and push the culture toward the mainstream.
Keep in mind, the technology behind this platform is mostly agnostic. Anyone can build an instance that facilitates their chosen beliefs and choose to only federate with other like-minded instances.
