I wonder if you took all the dollars spent in board rooms, design committees, manufacturing, installation, etc etc. How many homeless people could have been helped.

Go even beyond that. Think of the world's wealth and how far we could advance as a species if that wealth was used to help and advance our species as a whole.
I try not to, it makes me angry and depressed...
