I have a Q that might seem dumb, but I don't have any friends who would be able to answer haha
Are women who work in IT sort of expected to wear make up? I need to start applying for IT jobs, and in my whole 27 years I think I've worn make up like three times - all of those being for dancing events when I was a kid lol and I'd really prefer to not start wearing it now
At any place I've ever worked: no (unless you want to)! And if any do expect that, it would be a red flag that it isn't a great place to work, so if they don't hire you over that, you would have dodged a bullet.
I reckon it'd be a brave manager who would try to enforce a make-up policy, especially if you're not customer-facing. I doubt it'd be an issue, I've worked with many a lady nerd who went without - and they're often the coolest peeps to work with. :)
Oh true? Thanks for your insights, it makes me feel a bit less anxious about it haha
I just want to do IT jobs smh I selfishly don't want to change stuff like that about me hahaha

Depends on the IT stream I guess? Sales? Maybe. Dev? Mate they are lucky if you washed the hoody in the last 3 weeks.
I'd be trying for help desk/service tech roles ...
I think that's fair why you wear it 😃
It sounds silly but even the thought of wearing it makes me feel uncomfortable, and I don't think this is like a "you get used to it" thing - it's the same as dresses. I just sort of can't if that makes sense haha
