For anyone new to the C64 scene, or returning to their Commodore roots, there may come a time when you might want to give text adventure games a try. If you do, here are a couple recommendations that I've enjoyed more recently.
For the noobie, Castle Quest, by Ricky Derocher, is a short and simple text adventure game, perfect for the beginner. The commands used by the text parser are uncomplicated and puzzles are relatively straight-forward.
Once you get the hang of it, an enjoyable (and not too complicated) graphic text adventure you may want to try out is, The Curse of Rabenstein, by Stefan Vogt. Stefan has a great way of telling a story that draws you right in. Link to the itch.io page: https://8bitgames.itch.io/rabenstein.
Welcome and thanks for the recommendations! I always found text adventures to have some puzzles be so obscure that I would have never even guessed the solution. I suppose these will be the ultimate test to figure out if I'm just a stupid Lemming!
Thank you! Well, I wouldn't say text adventure games were a test of one's "smarts", but they are an aquired taste. I admit that I only have the patience to play through certain ones. But, the couple I've listed here are ones I found entertaining enough to finish. I hope others do, too!
