TL;DR: Just want to hear your mundane life so I can justify my mundane life.
Since there aren't many casual topics so I guess I'll start one.
This is the second time I come to Japan for work and living is kinda stale now, for lack of a better word.
Last time I stayed for about a year, and this time also.
There are not many people in my country have a chance to get here (weak passport as an example), so I tried a lot to get chances to come here.
To make it clear that I don't fantasize about my life will change that much when I come here, but still I wanted to make It count.
Try to go out of my comfort zone meet people, join meetup group (which I never do in my country), but I still don't experience many meaningful things, and don't have much connections either.
When I travel somewhere, I often find myself going alone, and It really make me lose motivation so fast. (I wish I can talk to local people, but It's not helpful that I'm socially awkward so my only interaction in those trips mostly come from the restaurants).
So this time I want to travel again but only thinking about my past experiences make me hesitate.
Maybe It's just that I'm not suitable to live abroad and travelling stuffs or maybe It's just better to chill around in my apartment and jogging around when I'm off from work like I'm currently do.
So just curious what does your daily life look like? What do you do to make It less mundane?
Leave for work at 8:30am
Work from 9am-6pm
Get home around 7pm
Depending on if I have leftovers, I'll cook something and do house chores.
I'll also try to fit the gym in either before or after work (1 hour)
That leaves me with about 2-3 hours of free time, in which I'll either study Japanese or work on some IT stuff as I'm still early in my career.
As for weekends, they're pretty boring. I've been living in this small city for 5 years and been all over the prefecture. I'll teach some private students and normally go out drinking on Saturday night.
I'm mid-20s and also am questioning if there's more to life than this. I'll probably move back home or to Tokyo in the next year or so, but I don't expect my lifestyle to change much.
I also work 9am-6pm, which come to think of it, don't leave many me time, and I just want to have a rest on weekend.
It's almost like when I was back at my home, even though I still feel grateful to have a chance living here.
Btw, Do you go out drinking alone?
I'm thinking about go to a bar somewhere maybe It's more relaxing than building up anxiety at my apartment.
I used to go out alone when I first came here, but I became a regular at a local place, so anytime I go, there's always someone I'm familiar with there.
It's all perspective dude. Yeah life in Japan can be a drag, but at least we're not in North Korea.
I always try to see the positive in the situation. For example, I work in a Japanese company and the work culture and pay is not so good, but on the other hand, it allows me to practice my Japanese and gain a deeper insight into the culture.
Also I appreciate living here more when I realize that I probably won't be here forever to enjoy the things that make Japan great (good food, public safety, not needing a car, etc)
