Lurked for a day anonymously, just signed up after liking what I saw. Considering hosting my own instance for myself just to try the set up, but my home server already has a lot running on it, need to think about it.
Hoping some communities I followed on reddit start to appear and have regular activity.
The downside of hosting just an instance for you, is that there is a huge amount of back and forth just from "federating".
Yeah I know the feeling from using Matrix, my server got rate limited through pihole within minutes of joining a server.
I'll stick to the lemmy.world instance for now, server needs a better CPU anyways.
