Is having an Android really a deal-breaker for some people?
I asked if people chose iPhone for the blue bubbles elsewhere a couple days ago, and while there was some good discourse on that post, the blue bubbles definitely also came up as a reason.
In my experience, when people find out my texts are green, they oftentimes would rather switch to a different platform altogether like Instagram or just not text at all.
Is this actually a deal-breaker in friendships out there?
SMS sucks. That's the real issue. The fact that an Android user being present in a group chat drags the chat's feature set back down to SMS level is what people are reacting to. (Fortunately, iOS 17 will fix this, at least for the iOS users in the group chat).
Having it be a friendship deal-breaker is childish, though.
You mean having an iphone in the chat drags down the standard. Apple implemented a worse protocol and refuses to use the modern standard AND claims it's Android that's dragging things down. Androids can all use thr updated protocol.
There is no modern standard. RCS is the same thing as iMessage, just open and owned by google. Apple is never going to implement something that requires googles servers.
